Gemma Allen Receives Loyola University Chicago's Felice Award
In a ballroom filled to capacity with more than 800 Loyola alumni and guests, Gemma Allen received Loyola University Chicago’s 2018 Felice Award from the school’s John Felice Rome Center at Loyola’s annual Founders’ Dinner September 12 at the Raddison Blu Aqua. The Felice Award, named after the Rome Center’s founding director John Felice, is among the highest honors given by the university. Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of former Vice President Joe Biden and a lifelong educator, spoke about the importance of community colleges to America’s future. Jean Dolores Schmidt BVM, popularly known as Sister Jean, is a chaplain for the Loyola Ramblers men's basketball team and was presented with the prestigious Sword of Loyola. In her remarks, she repeated what seemed to be the mantra of the evening, "Go Ramblers"!
